Palanor's classification of each company, not a data vendor's. Form D covers Rule 506 offerings that companies choose to file: some of the largest AI labs raise without one, so the money share runs below industry tallies, and one very large round moves it. Funds, deal vehicles, public companies, banks, real estate and oil and gas are left out.
Every U.S. private operating company that sells equity under Rule 506 files a notice with the SEC saying how much it has sold. Palanor chains each offering's filings, counts the new money in the quarter it is reported, and checks which companies build AI, so the share of private venture money and of the companies raising it can be followed quarter by quarter from public filings.
