HSR Early Terminations per Month
Mergers the FTC and DOJ cleared before the end of the Hart-Scott-Rodino waiting period, by month granted
Plays the chart through its history. Pauses are where the data set a record or moved most.
The agencies all but stopped granting early termination from February 2021 until the new HSR form took effect in February 2025: the zeros in between are policy, not a lack of deals. Starts in 2014; the FTC's published list is incomplete before then.
Deals cleared early because they raised no competitive concern. In normal times the count follows the flow of routine sizeable deals; it also records antitrust policy, as the long suspension shows.
