The same six functions work in Excel (PALANOR.LAST), Google Sheets (PALANOR_LAST) and Python (p.signals.latest). Each call counts against your key's monthly requests, the same as the REST API. Answers are kept for 15 minutes, so many cells asking the same thing cost one request. LAST cells are read in batches, at one request per ten signals.
LAST(slug)
The latest value of a signal. In Excel it refreshes itself on the schedule set in the task pane, and every LAST cell in the workbook is read in one batch. In Sheets, pass a range of slugs (=PALANOR_LAST(A2:A40)) to fill a column in one batch. A batch costs one request per ten signals, rounded up: 1 to 10 signals cost one request, 39 cost four, 100 cost ten. Each refresh costs the same again.
HISTORY(slug, from, to, freq)
Dates and values, oldest first, spilled down the sheet. from and to can be date cells, DATE() or "YYYY-MM-DD"; leave them blank for the whole record. freq rolls the readings up: leave it blank for every reading, or use W, M, Q or Y for each week's, month's, quarter's or year's closing reading, dated the period's last day.
FORESIGHT(slug, horizon, output)
Palanor Foresight for the signal. horizon is days (30), a span ("30d", "6m", "1y") or a date; blank means the signal's full horizon: 30 days for daily to monthly series, 1 year for quarterly, 3 years for annual. Past that, the cell says how far this series reads. output is value (the default), low, high, date, band (one row with all four) or path (every projected date). About two in three outcomes land between low and high. A source's own published forecast is not projected again. Needs a Pro or Enterprise key: Foresight is Palanor's own work, so it is not on Free keys.
SEARCH(query)
Signals that match, with slug, name, unit, latest value, date and source. Only signals licensed for use outside Palanor come back, so every slug works in the other functions.
SCREEN(saved_screen_id)
A screen you saved on the Entity Screener (yours, one shared with your organization, or a Palanor house screen), with its columns, each row's source filing and its Palanor page. The task pane and the Sheets sidebar list your screens. Adviser and fund screens end with the BrokerCheck notice, which must stay with the rows. Needs a Pro or Enterprise key.
ENTITY(id, field)
A fact from the company graph. id is ticker:AAPL, cik:320193, lei:..., crd:... or qid:Q...; field is name (the default), country, city, lei, cik, ticker, crd, website, industry, incorporated, legal_form, status, direct_parent, ultimate_parent, children or url. Needs a Pro or Enterprise key.
When a cell shows an error
- #VALUE! with "Add your Palanor API key": open the Palanor task pane (or the Palanor menu in Sheets) and save your key.
- #N/A "Palanor does not serve this signal outside the app": its source is display-only, or the slug is wrong. Try SEARCH.
- "needs a Pro or Enterprise key" or "requires a Pro or Enterprise key": FORESIGHT, SCREEN and ENTITY. Upgrade at app.palanor.com/api-tokens.
- "This call costs N requests": a LAST batch costs more than the key has left this month. Fewer LAST cells, or a slower refresh, will fit.
- "used its monthly requests": the allowance resets on the first of the month.
