Company Dossier

One page per company: what it is doing, from its SEC filings, its own results releases and calls, and the news. Cash flow, capex, buybacks, guidance, filings, peers and Company Posture, every figure dated and sourced.

Updated 2026-10-22

A Company Dossier is one page per company that brings together everything Palanor reads about it. It covers the S&P 500, the Russell 1000 and the S&P MidCap 400, about 1,100 companies, and is rebuilt every night.

Open one at palanor.com/companies/<ticker> (for example palanor.com/companies/aapl), signed in (type the company in the command bar, or open it from the screener), or inside your workspace at /<your org>/companies/<ticker>.

What is on the page

  • The latest read: a few sentences computed from the data, such as free cash flow over the last four quarters and how it compares with a year earlier, the tone of the latest earnings call, guidance raised or lowered in the last 90 days, and risk factors added in the latest annual report. No model writes these: every figure is filled in by code from the source.
  • Risk events: under the latest read, one line counts the company's recalls, EPA enforcement cases, CFPB complaint spikes and OSHA and Wage and Hour cases in the last 12 months (its subsidiaries' included), with the latest one. It links to the full timeline on the Identity and graph tab. Companies with none show no line.
  • Company Posture: what the company is doing on three axes (expanding or retrenching, confident or hedging, and pressure). An axis shows a reading only after it passes the test Palanor set out before computing any result; until then you see its parts and the reason. Company Posture describes, it never rates. See How Company Posture is measured.
  • Credit: the bonds the company priced in the last three years, read from the pricing term sheets it filed with the SEC (amount, coupon, maturity, spread to Treasuries, yield and rating), the debt on its latest balance sheet, and, when you are signed in, its distance to default. See Credit markets in Palanor.
  • Charts: free cash flow, operating cash flow and capex, revenue, buybacks, debt issued and repaid, guidance raised minus lowered, call tone and confidence, risk factors added, H-1B filings, insider net buying, institutional holders, headline tone, and up to three KPI Ledger series. Each is a live chart in the Charts library, with an image link you can paste into a document and, where the sources allow it, a data file.
  • In the news: headlines that name the company, with the publisher, a link and a tone read.
  • Filings and records: notable 8-Ks, offerings, annual reports, federal awards, lobbying reports, patents and other public records from the last two years.
  • Peers: companies in the same industry, closest in revenue first.
  • Identity: SEC CIK, LEI, parent companies from GLEIF and other identifiers.

How the numbers are made

  • Cash flow comes from the company's own 10-Q and 10-K filings (SEC EDGAR XBRL). Quarterly cash-flow statements are year-to-date, so each quarter is the year-to-date figure minus the one before it. Free cash flow is operating cash flow minus purchases of property and equipment; a company that files no capital spending line (most banks and insurers) gets no free cash flow rather than a guess.
  • A company's 13F holder count for a quarter appears once the 45-day filing window has closed.
  • Headline tone is read from the words of each headline with a fixed word list, and the words that decided it are shown when you hover. No model reads or summarises the article. A headline that names several companies gets no tone, because the words cannot say whose news it is.
  • Headlines are matched to companies by name and ticker. Names that could mean something else (Apple, Target, Visa, Ford) need the ticker, "Inc." or a business word next to them. We would rather miss a story than put the wrong company's news on a page.

Inside Palanor

Signed in, the Dossier adds the latest close (licensed market data, shown inside Palanor only), your organization's notes, fields and lists, the Company record tab (Guidance and KPI Ledgers, ownership, calls and more), and Identity and graph (the company graph). Follow this company opens an alert for its new 8-K and S-1 filings. In your workspace, the page also lists your scenarios and studies that touch the company. None of this appears on the public page.

Asking Numen

Ask Numen about a company and it can read the Dossier: "What is Microsoft doing with its cash?" or "Summarise the Dossier for NVDA".
