Entity Screener

Filter companies, investors, private funds, deals and banks from public filings, and private foundations from IRS returns; see each one's filings, risk events and parent tree, save screens and get a daily alert when new rows match.

Updated 2026-10-20

The Entity Screener lists the kinds of things public filings describe and lets you narrow them down: Companies, Investors (investment advisers, including venture and private equity firms), Funds (private funds), Deals (Form D raises, IPOs and M&A filings), Private credit loans (see Private credit) and Foundations (U.S. private foundations from their IRS Form 990-PF returns; see Foundations and charities). It is in the Terminal at app.palanor.com/screener and in your organization under Research → Screener.

What each list holds

  • Companies: every company in the Palanor company graph with an SEC filer number. Each row shows its state, Form D industry and SIC code, Palanor's AI class, its last financing (date and amount), what it has raised on Form D in all, its IPO date, patents, U.S. trademark filings over the last 12 months (all and naming AI), federal awards and SAM.gov award notices.
  • Investors: every investment adviser on the SEC's lists, registered or exempt reporting, with assets under management, the number of private funds by type, and when it first registered.
  • Funds: every private fund advisers report on Form ADV Schedule D, with its type, gross assets, number of owners and adviser.
  • Foundations: every U.S. private foundation by its latest Form 990-PF: assets at market value, grants paid, payout, the theme it gives most to and its state. Click one for its foundation page.
  • Deals: every Form D offering (one row per offering, dated by its first filing), every IPO priced on a 424B prospectus, every first-time S-1 or F-1 registration, and M&A filings: 8-K Item 2.01 (acquisition completed), tender offers and going-private filings.
  • Banks: every insured U.S. bank charter from its latest FFIEC Call Report: total assets and size band, deposits and their change from a year earlier, commercial real estate concentration (and whether it is above the 300% supervisory line), noncurrent loans, noncurrent CRE loans, and unrealized gains or losses on securities against tier 1 capital. Updated weekly as banks file.

Company rows also carry risk events: recalls (CPSC, NHTSA), EPA federal enforcement cases and CFPB complaint spikes in the last 12 months, the company's and its subsidiaries', and its CFPB complaints in 12 months. Filter on them under Risk events and Risk event source. See [Company risk events and bank Call Reports](/help/signals/company-risk-events-and-banks).

Filters, sorting and columns

Filters sit on the left: state, industry (Form D industry group or SIC major group), AI class, raise size, date ranges, fund type, and assets under management or gross assets by band. Click a column heading to sort. Columns picks which columns show; drag them to change the order. Right-click a row to open its page or its filing, or to keep only its state or industry. Every filter lives in the address, so a link opens the same screen.

Every row links to its filing

Each row has a Source filing link to the primary record: the Form D, the 424B, the 8-K on EDGAR, or the adviser's Form ADV. The AI class is Palanor's judgement from the issuer's name and a cited source; the evidence link opens that source.

Entity pages

Click a name to open its page: identifiers (CIK, LEI, CRD, ticker, Companies House number) with how each was matched, the GLEIF parent tree up to the ultimate parent and its children, every Form D raise, IPO and M&A filing, the private funds an adviser reports, patents, trademark applications, federal awards and SAM.gov award notices. Entity pages show facts only.

Saved screens and alerts

Save screen keeps the current filters under a name. In an organization you can share it with your team; everyone in the organization sees shared screens under Saved. Turn on Tell me daily and Palanor checks the screen once a day: when new rows match (a new financing or IPO for a company, a new adviser, fund or deal), you get a notification, and an email too if you ticked it and your notification settings allow screen alerts. Alerts are part of the platform and never use credits. Right-click a saved screen to change its alert, update it to the current filters or delete it.

Downloads

↓ CSV → Summary downloads counts and totals for the current screen by state, industry or type, free. Rows downloads up to 10,000 rows with their source links; it comes with a Pro or Enterprise Palanor API key or a full seat on Palanor Enterprise, because the same rows are Pro data in the API.

Ask and Numen

Ask a question that wants a list ("which AI companies in California raised over $10 million this year?") and Ask opens a Screen with the filters set. Numen can search the screener in chat too and links the full list.

How fresh it is

The lists are rebuilt every morning from Palanor's filings data. Form D data comes from the SEC's quarterly Form D data sets, so new raises appear in bursts after each quarter's file is published; IPO and M&A filings arrive daily. An entity's last financing is the latest Form D that reported new money sold, and the amount is that increase.
