Fields, Notes and Lists: Your Team’s Labels on What You Follow

Keep your own fields, tags and notes on companies, investors, funds, deals and signals, mention a teammate, and gather things into lists you can share and export.

Updated 2026-10-22

Palanor’s companies, investors, funds, deals and signals are public records. Your organization can put its own labels on them. Nobody outside your organization sees those labels.

This is a light layer of tags and notes, not a CRM. There are no pipelines, deals or stages to manage beyond the ones you make.

Fields

A field is a label your team keeps on things: a stage, an owner, a date to look again, a set of tags. Each field has a type:

  • Text: a short line.
  • Number: a figure, such as a check size.
  • Choice: one of the options you list. Tick Tags when an item can carry several at once.
  • Date: a day.
  • Person: someone in your organization.

Make a field from + Add a field on any company or signal page, or under Settings → Fields & tags. Choose what it shows on (companies and investors, funds, deals, signals, listed companies) and who sees it: Whole team or Only me.

Fields show on entity pages and as columns and filters in the Screener and on lists. Drag them under Settings → Fields & tags to set their order. The person who made a field, or an owner or admin, can rename it, change its choices or archive it. Archiving keeps the values.

Notes

Each company or signal page has a Notes box under your organization’s name. A Team note is read by everyone in your organization. An Only me note is yours alone.

Type @ in a team note to mention a teammate. They get a notification that links back to the note. Notes marked Only me never notify anyone. You can remove your own notes. Owners and admins can remove a team note.

Lists

A list is a set of companies, investors, funds, deals or signals your team keeps together. Use + List on a company or signal page, or select rows in the Screener and add them all at once.

A new list is yours alone until you choose Share with your organization. Lists sit under Lists in the menu, in your organization and under Me. A list page shows your fields as columns. You can filter it by any field, find an item, select rows (shift-click selects a range) and right-click a row to open it, copy it or take it off the list.

Export CSV downloads the list with its fields, note counts and links. Export comes with a full seat.

Who can do what

  • Full seats (owner, admin, researcher, member, relationship steward) make fields, write notes and build lists.
  • Readers (viewer, board member) see your organization’s fields, team notes and shared lists, but can’t change or export them.
  • Only me fields, notes and lists are never shown to anyone else, including owners and admins.

Council beats

Each Council writer’s beat has a page under Council, at app.palanor.com/council. It shows the writer, what they are working on this week, their recent posts, the Research Desk editions they wrote for, the beat’s charts and signals, and public screens. It never shows anything from your organization.
