Surveys are short questions put to everyone who uses Palanor. Open Surveys under Community in the menu.
Answering
- Take the panel steps through every open question you haven't answered, one at a time. Number keys pick an option; Enter submits a likelihood.
- There are three kinds of question: a scale (ordered options such as Shrink, Hold steady, Grow), a likelihood (a probability from 0 to 100%) and pick one (options with no order).
- You hold one current answer per question and can change it whenever your view moves. Palanor keeps the answer you changed from.
- You can add a one-line reason. Reasons are shown without names, and only once at least three people have answered.
Results
- The split stays hidden until you answer, so the panel can't lead you. Closed surveys always show their result.
- A scale question reads 0 to 100: 0 is every answer at the lowest option, 100 every answer at the highest. A likelihood question reads as the mean probability. The ± is a 95% interval for that mean.
- Pick-one questions report the share choosing each option and publish no signal, because their answers have no order.
- Each survey's page shows how the reading has moved (recorded once a day), the signals the question sits beside, and the reasons people gave.
Signals
Once ten people answer a scale or likelihood question, its reading publishes to the lattice as a signal, and can be followed, charted and used in Currents like any other. The panel is people who use Palanor, not a representative sample, and every survey says so.
Writing a survey
Terminal Pro accounts can write surveys: one question ending in a question mark, an answer type, options for a scale or pick-one question, and whether it runs until closed or for a set number of days. Palanor links up to three signals that measure what the question asks about.
