inflation

Canada CPI Inflation (12-Month)

Latest

3.09% y/y

Methodology

## What this measures

The 12-month percent change in the all-items Consumer Price Index (canada.cpi): headline inflation.

## Why it matters

It is the number the Bank of Canada targets at 2%, within a 1–3% range.

## How to read it

Above 3% is outside the Bank's range. Compare with core inflation (canada.cpi.common) to separate broad price pressure from swings in energy and food.

## What it does not say

It matches Statistics Canada's published 12-month rate to one decimal in most months; small differences come from rounding of the index.

## Source

Statistics Canada, table 18-10-0004-01 (vector v41690973), "Consumer Price Index, monthly, not seasonally adjusted; All-items". Palanor pulls it from Statistics Canada's Web Data Service every day and rewrites recent periods so revisions carry through.
