Canada Manufacturing New Orders

Methodology
## What this measures
The value of new orders Canadian manufacturers received in a month, from the Monthly Survey of Manufacturing, seasonally adjusted.
## Why it matters
Orders come before shipments and hiring, so they give an earlier read on where factory activity is heading.
## How to read it
Compare orders with shipments (canada.manufacturing.shipments): orders running above shipments point to rising output ahead. Large single contracts (aircraft, rail) make individual months jumpy.
## What it does not say
It is in current dollars and is not adjusted for cancellations later on.
