Toronto New Housing Price Index

Latest

106index (Dec 2016=100)

Methodology

## What this measures

The price contractors charge for comparable new single-family houses, including land, in the Toronto metropolitan area.

## Why it matters

Toronto is Canada's largest housing market and has seen the sharpest correction in new-home prices since 2022.

## How to read it

Compare with the national index (canada.nhpi) and with Vancouver.

## What it does not say

It covers newly built homes from the same builders, not resale homes (which make up most sales) and not condominiums. It is not seasonally adjusted.

## Source

Statistics Canada, table 18-10-0205-01 (vector v111955499), "New housing price index, monthly; Toronto, Ontario; Total (house and land)". Palanor pulls it from Statistics Canada's Web Data Service every day and rewrites recent periods so revisions carry through.
