Methodology
## What this measures
The number of people living in the Coquimbo Region, in thousands, whose main job is in mining and quarrying (CAENES section B), from INE's Encuesta Nacional de Empleo, as a rolling three-month average published monthly.
## Why it matters
Coquimbo has large copper mines and many residents who work in mining in other regions. The series shows how many people in the region depend on the industry.
## How to read it
Higher means more mining jobs held by people living in the region. Read it with the region's unemployment rate.
## What it does not say
The survey counts people where they live: many Coquimbo residents work at mines in Antofagasta or Atacama on rotating shifts and are counted here. A small regional sample, so single months can be noise.
