Antofagasta Region Unemployment Rate (Chile, INE)

Latest

6.33%

Methodology

## What this measures

The share of the labour force in the Antofagasta Region of northern Chile that is unemployed, from INE's Encuesta Nacional de Empleo, as a rolling three-month average published monthly.

## Why it matters

Antofagasta is Chile's largest mining region, home to much of the country's copper and lithium output. Its job market shows how mining investment, construction and contractor activity are feeding through to local employment, and it is a direct read for anyone weighing a company's local hiring against the region's needs.

## How to read it

Higher is worse. Read it against the national rate: since 2010 Antofagasta has been below it about half the time.

## What it does not say

A regional survey estimate with a smaller sample than the national figure, so month-to-month moves can be noise. Three-month averages overlap. Not seasonally adjusted.

Changes made by Palanor: each rolling quarter is dated to its last month (June–August 2026 is dated August 2026) and values are rounded to two decimals; INE's reliability flags are kept with each observation. This is not an INE product, and INE does not endorse Palanor's use of it.
