Atacama Region Unemployment Rate (Chile, INE)
Latest
9.46%
Methodology
## What this measures
The share of the labour force in the Atacama Region of northern Chile that is unemployed, from INE's Encuesta Nacional de Empleo, as a rolling three-month average published monthly.
## Why it matters
Atacama's economy rests on copper, iron and gold mining and on the contractors and services around them. Its unemployment rate shows how mine construction, expansions and closures reach households in the region.
## How to read it
Higher is worse. Read it against the national rate and the mining employment series for the same region.
## What it does not say
A regional survey estimate with a small sample, so single months can be noise. Three-month averages overlap. Not seasonally adjusted.
