Chile Unemployment Rate (INE, Monthly Rolling Quarter)

Latest

9.64%

Methodology

## What this measures

The share of Chile's labour force (people aged 15 and over who are working or looking for work) that is unemployed, from the Encuesta Nacional de Empleo run by Chile's national statistics institute, INE. Each value covers a rolling three-month period, and a new one is published every month.

## Why it matters

It is Chile's headline read on the job market, published monthly and far sooner than annual international tables. Copper prices, construction and the season move it, and it sets the backdrop for wages, household spending and political pressure on the government.

## How to read it

Higher is worse. Chile's rate has mostly sat between 6% and 9% since 2010; it peaked at about 13% in mid-2020. Compare like periods: there is a seasonal pattern, with rates usually higher in the southern winter.

## What it does not say

Each value is a three-month average, so consecutive values overlap and turning points show up late. It is a survey estimate with sampling error. It is not seasonally adjusted.

Changes made by Palanor: each rolling quarter is dated to its last month (June–August 2026 is dated August 2026) and values are rounded to two decimals; INE's reliability flags are kept with each observation. This is not an INE product, and INE does not endorse Palanor's use of it.
