Methodology

## What this measures

People aged 65 and over as a share of the population of Chile, one value per year.

## Why it matters

An older population changes demand, savings, pensions and health spending, and slows labour-force growth.

## How to read it

Higher means an older population. Above about 14% is often called "aged", above 21% "super-aged".

## What it does not say

Says nothing about health or work at older ages. Recent years are UN estimates.

## Source

World Bank, World Development Indicators (CC BY 4.0 per the indicator's metadata), indicator `SP.POP.65UP.TO.ZS`, annual, dated December 31. Read weekly by the sovereign-panel sync, which rewrites the history so revisions carry through. Originally from UN World Population Prospects.
