Israel · Basic Drinking Water Access · % of population

Latest

100pct

Methodology

## What this measures

The share of people in Israel who drink from an improved source (piped water, a protected well or spring, rainwater, packaged or delivered water) that can be reached within a 30-minute round trip, queuing included. Annual, percent of population; the base of the WHO/UNICEF ladder behind UN Sustainable Development Goal 6.

## Why it matters

It marks the population still without a reliable nearby source: the frontier of basic development, and a direct read of how exposed people are to drought and water shocks.

## How to read it

Higher is better. Most middle- and high-income countries sit near 100%, so read it with safely managed water, which carries the movement there.

## What it does not say

Basic access says nothing about whether the water is safe or always available. Values are modelled from household surveys and censuses and revised with each JMP update.

## Source
