## What this measures
Worldwide Google search interest in Panama as a topic, weekly, on Google's 0–100 scale over a rolling five-year window (100 = the peak week in that window). Palanor queries the Google Knowledge Graph topic (`/m/05qx1`), not the word, so searches for the country are counted and homonyms are not.
## Why it matters
Attention precedes capital and policy: a country that suddenly draws the world's searches is usually in the news for an election, a crisis, a disaster or a deal. It is the fastest-moving country signal in the lattice.
## How to read it
Read spikes against the country's own baseline, then look for the cause in the wire. Sustained elevation matters more than a single week.
## What it does not say
Attention is not strength or sentiment — a coup and a World Cup look the same here. That is why it is published beside Country Strength and never weighted into it.
