Methodology
## What this measures
The share of men aged 15 and over in Saudi Arabia who are employed or actively looking for work, on the ILO's harmonised definition. Annual, percent of the male population aged 15+.
## Why it matters
The male rate is the baseline the female rate is read against. Its long decline in many rich economies, from ageing, longer schooling and early retirement, is a labour-supply story of its own.
## How to read it
Read it with the female rate: the gap between them is the gender comparison. A falling rate in an ageing country is expected; a fall among prime-age men is not, and needs a closer look at national data.
## What it does not say
It counts paid work and job search, not unpaid work, and informal work is measured unevenly. The latest years are ILO nowcasts, revised as national labour-force surveys arrive.
