Methodology
## What this measures
The share of people living on $10 a day or more in Uruguay, per person, at 2021 purchasing-power prices, from household surveys.
## Why it matters
The $10-a-day line is the World Bank and academic marker of economic security and a middle-class life; the share above it tracks the rise of a consuming middle class.
## How to read it
Higher means more of the population lives above the line. Compare a country with its own past; survey methods differ between countries.
## What it does not say
Household surveys under-count the richest and are years apart in many countries; the years between surveys are World Bank estimates, and no year after the latest survey is stored. Some countries measure income, others consumption.
