Student Loan Balances 90+ Days Delinquent (NY Fed)

Latest

10.6%

Methodology

## What this measures

The share of outstanding student-loan balances that are 90 or more days delinquent.

## Why it matters

Federal student-loan delinquencies were not reported during the payment pause and returned to credit reports in 2025, so this series jumps in 2025 by construction.

## How to read it

Quarterly, from the New York Fed Consumer Credit Panel / Equifax, back to 2003 (1999 for some pages). Lower is better. Read around the 2020–2025 pause with care.

## Source

Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Quarterly Report on Household Debt and Credit, data workbook (Page 12). Public.
