Crude Oil Production · China
Latest
4,420.89thousand barrels per day
Methodology
## What this measures
Crude oil production, including lease condensate, for China, in thousand barrels per day, monthly.
## Why it matters
The largest producers set how much oil the world has to burn. Output is the physical side of the oil story: it shows supply decisions, quota changes, sanctions and disruptions before they show up in prices, budgets and trade data.
## How to read it
Higher means more barrels coming out of the ground. Compare the level with the producer's own recent months and with the other large producers; a sharp fall that no policy decision explains usually points to a disruption. Production is not exports: domestic refining and storage sit between the two.
## What it does not say
EIA builds these monthly estimates from national data, trade data and its own assessments, and revises them. The latest months are the least settled. It does not show exports, spare capacity or where the oil went, and it excludes natural gas liquids and biofuels.
