Regular Gasoline Price · Central Atlantic (PADD 1B)

Latest

4.31$/gal

Methodology

## What this measures

The average price drivers pay at the pump for regular gasoline (all formulations) in the Central Atlantic, PADD 1B: Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, in dollars per gallon including taxes. EIA surveys a sample of stations every Monday morning.

## Why it matters

Gasoline is the fuel price households feel most directly, and regional prices diverge sharply: refinery outages, pipeline limits, state taxes and fuel blend rules can push one region well above the national average while another stays flat. For a business with operations, customers or fleets in a region, the regional price is the one that matters.

## How to read it

Higher means more expensive. Compare it with the national average (US Regular Gasoline Price, weekly) to see whether a move is regional or national, and with crude oil and the wholesale gasoline spot price to see whether it is being passed through from upstream.

## What it does not say

It includes federal and state taxes, which differ by state and explain part of every regional gap. It is a regional average: prices at individual stations vary widely around it. It is not seasonally adjusted, and summer blends cost more than winter blends.
