U.S.-Listed Semiconductor Companies: Market Value
Latest
11.81USD trillions
Methodology
## What this measures
The combined market value of 38 U.S.-listed semiconductor companies: chip designers and makers (Nvidia, Broadcom, AMD, Intel, Micron, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments and others) and the companies that make chipmaking equipment and materials (ASML, Applied Materials, Lam Research, KLA and others).
## Why it matters
Chips are the physical layer of the AI build-out, and these companies have become a large share of the U.S. stock market. Their combined value is the plainest read of how much investors are paying for that build-out.
## How to read it
Trillions of U.S. dollars. A company counts from its first day of trading on a U.S. exchange, so listings such as Arm (September 2023) add to the total.
## What it does not say
Taiwan Semiconductor, Samsung, SK hynix and Tokyo Electron are not included: they do not file share counts with the SEC. Chip-design software companies (Cadence, Synopsys) are left out by definition. Each company's value uses its current share count, so earlier readings ignore buybacks and new shares. Dividends are not included.
