FOMC Statement Sentiment Delta
Latest
0.1delta
Methodology
## What this measures
`sentiment_score` of each FOMC statement minus the statement before it, dated to the meeting.
## Why it matters
The statement is written to change as little as possible. What changes is the message.
## How to read it
A positive value means the latest statement is more positive in sentiment than the prior one; a negative value means it is more negative. The magnitude shows how large the shift in tone is from meeting to meeting. Compare the delta to prior deltas to gauge whether the committee's messaging is becoming more or less consistent.
## What it does not say
This does not measure the absolute sentiment of the current statement, only the change from the previous one. It does not explain which topics or sections drove the shift in tone.
