Commercial Real Estate Loans, All U.S. Commercial Banks
Latest
3,155.16$ billions
Methodology
## What this measures
Commercial real estate loans at U.S. commercial banks. Weekly (Wednesday), seasonally adjusted, $ billions, from the Fed's H.8 release (Assets and Liabilities of Commercial Banks in the United States).
## Why it matters
Bank balance sheets are where credit to households and businesses is created. The H.8 shows it weekly, months before quarterly call reports.
## How to read it
Read growth rates (13 or 52 weeks), not levels. Week-to-week moves include mergers and accounting changes, which the Fed adjusts for in its growth figures but not in levels.
## What it does not say
Commercial banks only: credit unions, nonbank lenders, private credit and bond markets are not here. Levels are estimates from a sample of banks, benchmarked to quarterly reports, and get revised.
