Exports Contribution to US GDP Growth
Latest
0.56pp of GDP growth, annualized
Methodology
## What this measures
Percentage points of annualized real GDP growth that came from exports of goods and services.
## Why it matters
Exports measure foreign demand for what the US produces, and respond to the dollar, overseas growth and trade policy.
## How to read it
Read it with the import contribution; together they make the net exports contribution. A positive reading means real exports rose in the quarter.
## What it does not say
It does not split goods from services or show destinations. It is revised with each BEA estimate.
## Source
U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, National Income and Product Accounts Table 1.1.2 (Contributions to Percent Change in Real Gross Domestic Product), read through FRED, Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis (series A020RY2Q224SBEA). BEA data are in the public domain. Palanor syncs the series nightly; each quarter's figure is revised with BEA's second and third estimates and annual updates, and the stored history takes those revisions.
