## What this measures
This signal measures the Swedish krona per US dollar spot exchange rate. It tracks the price at which one US dollar can be exchanged for Swedish kronor on any given business day.
## Why it matters
The exchange rate determines the dollar-denominated cost of Swedish operations, revenues and assets. Organizations with Swedish exposure face translation risk when consolidating results, valuation shifts when repatriating capital, and competitive pressure when input or output prices move against peers. A weaker krona lowers the dollar cost of Swedish labor and supplies but also reduces the dollar value of Swedish earnings.
## How to read it
A rise means the krona is weakening (more kronor required per dollar); a fall means the krona is strengthening. Compare period-to-period moves to assess translation exposure, and compare levels to historical ranges to judge whether Swedish costs or revenues are elevated or compressed in dollar terms.
## What it does not say
This is a spot rate, not a forecast of future exchange rates or a measure of purchasing power parity. It does not reflect transaction costs, forward pricing, or the impact of hedging strategies.
