Arrow Electronics Gross Margin, Trailing Twelve Months

Methodology
## What this measures
Arrow Electronics's gross profit (revenue less cost of revenue) as a percentage of revenue, over the trailing twelve months, at each quarter end, from its filings with the SEC. Dated the period end; each reading keeps the date it was first filed and the filing it comes from. Read from SEC companyfacts (10-K and 10-Q, or 20-F and 6-K for foreign filers), and from a 20-F's own XBRL instance where companyfacts does not carry it yet.
## Why it matters
Gross margin is the clearest single read on where profit sits in the chip value chain: design software and chip IP keep most of each dollar, fabless designers and toolmakers about half, foundries somewhat less, and packaging and distribution a small slice. Stage: distribution.
## How to read it
Compare companies at the same stage, and each company with its own history: a jump usually means a shift in product mix or pricing power. Fiscal years differ (Nvidia's ends in late January), so period ends do not line up exactly.
## What it does not say
GAAP or IFRS as reported, including stock compensation and acquired-intangible amortization in cost of revenue where the company puts them there, so margins differ from the non-GAAP margins companies present. It says nothing about operating costs such as research and development.
