Deforestation — share of world news

Methodology
## What this measures
The share of all news articles GDELT processes each day whose story cluster carries the theme ENV_DEFORESTATION, weighted by the number of articles in each cluster, in percent.
## Why it matters
Deforestation is a supply-chain and disclosure risk for anyone sourcing beef, soy, palm oil, timber or minerals from forest frontiers, and it is the subject of new import rules. Coverage marks when it is under scrutiny.
## How to read it
Higher means more of the world's news is about it. Daily values are noisy; read a 7- or 30-day average, and compare against its own history rather than against other themes.
## What it does not say
It measures coverage, not forest loss. It is a small theme, tens of articles a day, so single days are very noisy; use a 30-day average. GDELT tags themes by keyword and pattern matching.
