Food security — share of world news

Methodology
## What this measures
The share of all news articles GDELT processes each day whose story cluster carries the theme FOOD_SECURITY (hunger, food supply and access), weighted by the number of articles in each cluster, in percent.
## Why it matters
Food insecurity is an early read of unrest, migration and export bans. Coverage rises with harvest failures, blockades and price spikes, often before the official hunger statistics, which arrive years later.
## How to read it
Higher means more of the world's news is about it. Daily values are noisy; read a 7- or 30-day average, and compare against its own history rather than against other themes.
## What it does not say
It measures coverage, not the number of hungry people or food prices. GDELT tags themes by keyword and pattern matching, so some articles are tagged loosely.
