Methodology
## What this measures
Spending on fixed assets (buildings, machinery, infrastructure, housing) plus changes in inventories in Cyprus, as a percentage of gross domestic product at current prices, each year.
## Why it matters
GDP by expenditure shows what an economy runs on: household spending, government, investment or trade. An economy where households spend most of GDP leans on consumer demand; a large investment share means it is building; large exports and imports mean exposure to the world economy and to tariffs.
## How to read it
Percent of GDP. Household consumption, government consumption, investment and net exports add up to about 100. National accounts publish the parts and the total separately, so the four can miss 100 by a few points (the statistical discrepancy); Palanor flags a year where the gap is more than three points. Compare Cyprus with its own past, or with other countries on this same World Bank definition.
## What it does not say
It is a share, not a size: a share can rise because the rest of the economy shrank. Values are annual and revised, and the latest year is often an estimate. Where a country's statistics office changes its accounts, the series can step.
