India · DTP3 Immunization Coverage · % of children 12–23 months

Methodology

## What this measures

The share of children aged 12–23 months in India who received all three doses of the diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis vaccine (DTP3). Yearly from 1980.

## Why it matters

DTP3 is the standard marker of whether a country's routine immunization system reaches its children: the three doses need three visits to a clinic in the first year of life, so coverage shows how far basic health services reach families. It is a core indicator of the WHO's Immunization Agenda 2030.

## How to read it

Higher is better. Annual, dated December 31 of the reference year. Falls usually mean services were disrupted (conflict, outbreaks, the COVID-19 years) or supply failed.

## What it does not say

It counts children vaccinated, not protected, and a national or regional average hides districts where coverage is far lower. The estimates are WHO and UNICEF's best judgement from administrative reports and household surveys, and they are revised each July.
