Thailand · Unemployment Rate (IMF)

Latest

1% of labor force

Methodology

## What this measures

Unemployed people as a percent of the labor force, annual. Thailand.

## Why it matters

Joblessness is the clearest read on slack in an economy. The IMF's forecasts show where it expects labor markets to loosen or tighten.

## How to read it

National definitions differ, so compare a country with its own history more than with other countries.

Each point is one year's figure in the newest World Economic Outlook, dated December 31. The series stops the year before the WEO's own year; the IMF's forecast from there is a separate series (the same name with "IMF Projection"), so this line never mixes measured and forecast years. The newest year is often still an IMF estimate, and the whole history is revised with each edition.

## What it does not say

Definitions follow national statistical offices, and many economies do not report it.
