Methodology
## What this measures
Real gross domestic product, percent change from the year before, at constant prices. Bahrain.
## Why it matters
Growth sets the pace of demand, hiring and tax receipts. The IMF uses one method for every economy, so countries and regions compare cleanly, and its forecasts are the reference most finance ministries and markets quote.
## How to read it
Above zero means the economy grew in real terms. World and regional aggregates weight countries by GDP at purchasing-power parity.
Each point is one edition of the World Economic Outlook, dated the first day of its publication month (April and October). The value is that edition's figure for 2026: a forecast before and during 2026, then an estimate. The change from one point to the next is the IMF's revision.
## What it does not say
Forecasts are IMF staff judgment at the time of the WEO, revised with every edition. Recent years are often estimates until national statistics are final.
