Papua New Guinea · GDP per Capita, Current US Dollars (IMF)

Methodology

## What this measures

Gross domestic product per person at current prices, in US dollars at market exchange rates. Papua New Guinea.

## Why it matters

Average income in dollars sets a country's buying power on world markets.

## How to read it

Higher means more output per person, valued in dollars. Exchange rates move it as much as growth does.

Each point is one year's figure in the newest World Economic Outlook, dated December 31. The series stops the year before the WEO's own year; the IMF's forecast from there is a separate series (the same name with "IMF Projection"), so this line never mixes measured and forecast years. The newest year is often still an IMF estimate, and the whole history is revised with each edition.

## What it does not say

Not adjusted for price levels (see GDP per capita at PPP).
