Methodology

## What this measures

Gross domestic product per person at current prices, converted to international dollars at purchasing-power parity (ICP benchmarks 2017–2021). Qatar.

## Why it matters

The fairest single comparison of average incomes across countries: it adjusts for what a dollar buys at home.

## How to read it

Higher means more output per person. Read the trend within a country; across countries, gaps of a few percent are inside the measurement error.

Each point is one year's figure in the newest World Economic Outlook, dated December 31. The series stops the year before the WEO's own year; the IMF's forecast from there is a separate series (the same name with "IMF Projection"), so this line never mixes measured and forecast years. The newest year is often still an IMF estimate, and the whole history is revised with each edition.

## What it does not say

An average: it says nothing about how income is shared. PPP rates are benchmarked every few years and revised.
