Indeed Job Postings: Accounting (U.S.)

Latest

104.65index, Feb 1, 2020 = 100

Methodology

## What this measures

The number of U.S. job postings on Indeed in the Accounting occupational category, as an index: February 1, 2020 = 100. Each daily reading is a seven-day trailing average, seasonally adjusted by Indeed Hiring Lab.

## Why it matters

Postings are employers' demand for workers in real time, weeks before government jobs data. Comparing categories shows which kinds of work are in demand and which have cooled since before the pandemic.

## How to read it

100 is the pre-pandemic level of February 2020. A reading of 80 means postings are 20% below it; 120 means 20% above. Read the trend over weeks, not single days.

## What it does not say

Postings are not hires: one posting can fill several roles, or none. Indeed's coverage and employers' use of it change over time, and the category is Indeed's own classification of job titles. It counts postings, not wages.
