NY Fed Staff Nowcast · Current-Quarter Real GDP (weekly)

## What this measures

The New York Fed Staff Nowcast for the current quarter's real GDP growth, annualized, one observation per weekly update (Fridays). `metadata.quarter` names the reference quarter.

## Why it matters

A second, independently built nowcast. It uses a dynamic factor model rather than GDPNow's bridge equations; when the two agree, the read is robust, and when they diverge the gap is itself information about which data the models weight.

## How to read it

Same as GDPNow: the within-quarter path. The NY Fed series was suspended September 2021 – September 2023; the stored history begins with the relaunch (December 2022 forecast dates).

## What it does not say

Not an official FOMC projection. No view beyond the next quarter.
