Average annual hours worked · Lithuania

Methodology

## What this measures

The average number of hours actually worked in a year by a person in employment in Lithuania, employees and self-employed together: total hours worked divided by the average number of people employed, from national labour force surveys and accounts, compiled by the OECD (dataflow DSD_HW@DF_AVG_ANN_HRS_WKD). Annual since 1995 or the first year published.

## Why it matters

Hours are the other half of output per person: two countries with the same GDP per person can differ widely in how long people work to produce it. Palanor divides GDP per person employed by these hours for GDP per hour worked.

## How to read it

Compare each country's trend. The OECD warns that levels differ in method across countries, so gaps of under about a hundred hours between countries mean little.

## What it does not say

It does not separate full-time from part-time work; a country with many part-time workers has low average hours even if full-timers work long weeks.
