Deaths: Colombia
Latest
282,433deaths per year
Methodology
## What this measures
The number of deaths in Colombia each calendar year, estimated by the UN World Population Prospects 2024.
## Why it matters
Deaths track ageing, health systems and shocks such as pandemics, famines and wars. When deaths overtake births, a population shrinks unless migration fills the gap.
## How to read it
Each point is a calendar year, dated December 31. Ageing populations see deaths rise even as health improves, because there are more older people.
## What it does not say
It is a count, not a rate, so it grows with population. Years without good registration data are modelled. These are estimates through 2023.
