Kalshi Open Interest Excluding Combo Contracts (USD)

Methodology
## What this measures
The number of Kalshi event contracts outstanding at the end of each day, summed over every market except multivariate combo contracts (parlays; report tickers starting KXMVE), counted at $1 face per contract. Daily, from July 18, 2022.
## Why it matters
Combo contracts are many and cheap per contract, so at face value they can swing the exchange-wide total without much money behind them. This series follows the single-event markets (elections, sports games, economic releases, crypto prices) on their own.
## How to read it
Read it beside the exchange-wide figure, prediction_markets.kalshi.open_interest_usd, which stays the headline: the gap between the two is open interest in combo contracts. No combo contract carries open interest or volume in Kalshi's reports before September 17, 2025, so until then the two series are equal.
## What it does not say
It is face value, not the money paid for the contracts. It is not a count of traders. A market's open interest leaves the total the day Kalshi marks it finalized. Reports Kalshi rewrote more than 14 days after their date are skipped, and Kalshi's report for March 8, 2026 carries no rows dated that day, so a few days are missing (the same days as the headline).

Kalshi daily market data report (one row per contract per day: open interest, daily volume, status), published on Kalshi's public documents bucket under CFTC reporting rules for designated contract markets. Palanor sums open interest over contracts whose status is not finalized and whose report ticker does not start with KXMVE.
