Switzerland — Avg annual hours worked per worker

Methodology
## What this measures
Average annual hours worked per person engaged in production in Switzerland. The measure captures the labor input of the employed workforce on a per-worker basis.
## Why it matters
Work intensity shapes unit labor costs, productivity comparisons and the speed at which demand translates into output. A decline in hours per worker can signal structural change in labor markets, tighter regulation or a shift toward part-time work. Benchmarking Switzerland against other economies reveals whether competitive pressures or policy differences are compressing or expanding available labor time.
## How to read it
A higher value means each worker contributes more hours to production over the year. A fall indicates shorter workweeks, more part-time employment or stronger leave entitlements. Compare this series to other countries or to output per hour to separate volume of work from efficiency.
## What it does not say
It does not distinguish full-time from part-time workers, report hours by sector or skill level, or show within-year variation. Changes reflect both policy and voluntary labor supply decisions that the series does not separate.
