labor
Denmark — Avg annual hours worked per worker
Latest
1,379.94hours/year
Methodology
## What this measures
Average annual hours worked per person engaged in production in Denmark. The series captures total labor input per worker across the economy.
## Why it matters
Work hours per employee reveal whether labor capacity is being extended or conserved, shaping decisions about staffing levels, shift patterns and productivity investments. Persistent changes signal structural shifts in work arrangements, labor regulation or sectoral composition that affect cost structures and competitive positioning in Denmark.
## How to read it
A rise means each engaged worker is spending more hours in production; a fall means fewer hours per worker. Compare levels across years to identify long-run trends in work intensity or to benchmark Denmark against other economies in the Penn World Table.
## What it does not say
It does not distinguish between full-time and part-time workers, separate overtime from standard hours, or capture informal work outside formal employment. The series reflects averages and does not show variation across industries or occupations.
