Mexico — Avg annual hours worked per worker

Latest

1,628.87hours/year

Methodology

## What this measures

Average annual hours worked per person engaged in production in Mexico. The figure counts all hours worked across the economy, divided by the number of people employed.

## Why it matters

Labor intensity shapes unit costs, capacity utilization and competitiveness in cross-border supply chains. A secular decline may signal rising productivity or regulatory shift; a rise may point to underemployment or cyclical strain. Organizations with Mexican operations or procurement use it to benchmark labor input against peer economies.

## How to read it

Higher values mean more hours worked per person per year. A rise indicates longer working time; a fall indicates shorter. Compare levels across countries or track changes within Mexico to spot shifts in work patterns.

## What it does not say

It does not distinguish between full-time and part-time workers, break out sectors, or capture changes in workforce composition. It reflects average hours for those already employed, not total labor supply or unemployment.
