Brazil · Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing Value Added · % of GDP

Latest

6.09% of GDP

Methodology

## What this measures

Gross value added by agriculture, forestry, hunting and fishing (ISIC divisions 1–3), including crops and livestock, as a percentage of gross domestic product, Brazil, each year, from the World Bank's World Development Indicators (NV.AGR.TOTL.ZS). 1981 to 2025.

## Why it matters

Farming’s share falls as countries grow richer: it is the clearest single marker of where an economy sits on the development path, and of how exposed it is to weather and food prices.

## How to read it

2025: 6.1% of GDP. Agriculture, industry and services together come to a little under 100%: GDP also counts taxes on products less subsidies, which no sector adds.

## What it does not say

Value added is output less inputs bought from other industries, at basic prices, so a sector can matter more for jobs or trade than its share suggests. Country series rest on national accounts of varying quality and base years; a new base year can shift the whole series.
