Methodology
## What this measures
The market value of US-listed stocks and ETFs held by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), at each quarter end, in US dollars billions, from the investors' own Form 13F filings with the SEC.
## Why it matters
Gulf sovereign investors are among the largest pools of capital looking for a home. Most of what they buy is private and only shows up in announcements; the 13F is the one slice that is filed, dated and complete for its scope, so it shows where these investors hold public US positions and when they change.
## How to read it
Higher means a larger US public-equity book at the quarter end. Check the filing detail before reading a jump as new money: a single position re-pricing, or a private holding becoming public, can move it as much as buying. The bank's reported portfolio has changed shape more than once, from a handful of holdings to several hundred.
## What it does not say
13F reports cover only US-listed stocks and ETFs held at the quarter end. They leave out private companies, real estate, bonds, funds held through outside managers that file their own reports, and every non-US market, which is where most of this money sits. A move can come from prices as much as from buying or selling: one large position can carry the whole number.

Palanor sums each filing's information table: common stock and ETF shares only (no options, no bonds), the latest original or restated report plus any new-holdings amendments, values in dollars (filings before 3 January 2023 were reported in thousands and are scaled). A quarter is published once its 45-day filing deadline has passed.
