Spain · Nights at Tourist Accommodation (monthly)

75.04million nights
Methodology
## What this measures
The number of nights guests spent at tourist accommodation in Spain, in millions, each month: residents and visitors from abroad together. Tourist accommodation means hotels and similar, holiday and other short-stay accommodation, and campsites (NACE I55.1 to I55.3).
## Why it matters
Nights spent are the direct footprint of tourism demand. They move hotel and restaurant revenue, airline and rail traffic, and, for the countries most dependent on visitors, a large share of services exports and jobs.
## How to read it
The series is strongly seasonal, with a summer peak, so compare a month with the same month a year earlier rather than with the month before. The 2020 and 2021 collapse is the pandemic.
## What it does not say
It leaves out nights in homes that are not rented (friends, family, second homes) and, depending on the country, part of the private short-term rental market. Small establishments below national survey thresholds are not counted. The latest months are often provisional and revised.
