India's Share of U.S. Goods Trade
Latest
2.67% of U.S. goods trade
Methodology
## What this measures
India's exports-plus-imports with the United States as a percentage of all U.S. goods trade in the same calendar year, since 1987.
## Why it matters
Shares make the ranking comparable across forty years of inflation and growth: they show partners rising and falling against each other, which nominal dollars hide.
## How to read it
Shares of every partner add to 100. The charts rank the largest partners each year.
## What it does not say
Goods only, not services. Country codes are today's: Germany includes West Germany before 1991, and Vietnam starts in 1992. Imports are counted by country of origin, so goods assembled in one country from another's parts count for the assembler. Shares start in 1987, the first year the file carries its own world total; before it, the file lists only 76 countries.
