Company Dissolutions · UK (Quarterly, Companies House)

Latest

190,836companies

Methodology

## What this measures

The number of companies in the United Kingdom dissolved in a quarter: struck off voluntarily or by Companies House, or dissolved after liquidation, as counted in Companies House's official statistics. Dated at the start of the quarter.

## Why it matters

Dissolutions are the exit side of the company population. Read with incorporations they show whether the register is growing, and compulsory strike-offs track companies that stopped filing.

## How to read it

The series starts in 2012 Q2 at 79,040. The latest reading, for 2026 Q1, is 190,836. The high is 234,373 (2025 Q3) and the low 14,606 (2020 Q2). Companies House strikes companies off in batches, and paused compulsory strike-offs at times (for example in 2020), so single quarters swing.

## What it does not say

Most dissolved companies were small or dormant; a dissolution is not an insolvency (company insolvencies are a separate series, uk.insolvency.company).
