UK Employment Rate (16–64)

75.3%
Methodology
## What this measures
The share of people aged 16–64 who have a job.
## Why it matters
It adjusts for population, so it shows whether job creation is keeping up with the number of working-age people.
## How to read it
Higher is stronger. Compare with the inactivity rate: since 2020 the UK has had more working-age people out of the labour force, many with long-term sickness.
## What it does not say
Labour Force Survey figures are three-month averages labelled by the last month, so they move slowly and lag. The survey has had low response rates since 2023 and ONS has warned that its estimates are less reliable; it is being replaced by a Transformed LFS.
